.Stroud ruled out for Week 11 (FFChamps) Buffalo Bills' defensive tackle Marcus Stroud (knee) has been ruled out for the team's Week 11 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Analysis: Buffalo has the worst run defense in the league. Stroud is Buffalo's best run-stopper. Maurice Jones-Drew scores touchdowns whenever he wants to. He plays the Bills this weekend. How do you see this story ending? MJD was our No. 1 fantasy play at running back this weekend whether the big fella in the middle for the Bills played or not, but without Stroud clogging the lanes, Jones-Drew will probably... 2.Maurice Jones-Drew (RotoWire) Jones-Drew gets a great matchup this week against the Bills, who rank last in the NFL in run defense. Analysis: Not that you really need an excuse to start Jones-Drew, but this game has as much potential as Tennessee's Chris Johnson had heading into the Week 10 matchup against the Bills. They have several defensive starters out, including Marcus Stroud, and have been getting shredded by the run all season.1 day
.Carlson's role declining in passing game (Rotoworld) Seahawks coach Jim Mora confirmed that TE John Carlson's role in the passing game is declining. Analysis: Carlson has been kept in to block more of late, the Seahawks are starting to use four-wide sets, and they've leaned heavily on the screen game. Carlson will need to pitch in against pass rusher Jared Allen Sunday, so he remains a poor bet as a TE1.1 day
.Maurice Jones-Drew (RotoWire) Jones-Drew, in the wake of the last-second kneel-down that cost thousands of fantasy owners their games on Sunday, has promised to score more to make up for his fantasy misdeed, according to ESPN.com. Analysis: Jones-Drew noted that "you should tell those 10,000 (the approximate number of ESPN players who lost their fantasy games last week due to Jones-Drew not scoring that final touchdown)) I will score next time."1 day
.Is Big Ben nursing a sore throwing arm? (Rotoworld) Ben Roethlisberger sat out parts of Thursday's practice with a with a wrap on his right elbow. Analysis: Asked if his arm was the reason he misfired on several balls in last week's loss, Roethlisberger replied, "I hope not." This could just be Big Ben playing the drama queen role again with a minor injury, as he added that he just had a "bad day" against the Bengals and there are no excuses. Roethlisberger is not listed on the Steelers' injury report this week.2 days
.Leon Washington ahead of schedule (Rotoworld) Leon Washington said Thursday that he's ahead of schedule in his return from a broken leg and hopes to rejoin the team in March for the off-season conditioning program. Analysis: Washington's injury was a double open fracture in his right leg, where the broken tibia and fibular bones came through the skin. A steel rod was placed in his leg, and Washington is beyond the point where infection is a concern. "They expect me to have a full recovery and they're real surprised at my mobility right now," said Washington. 2 days
.Jets | Washington hopes to work during offseason workouts (KFFL) Updating an earlier report, Rich Cimini, of the New York Daily News, reports New York Jets RB Leon Washington (leg) said he hopes to be able to work out with the team when the Jets start their offeseason program in March. "My goal is, which I'm very optimistic about, is to get back in March for initial training. I want to be moving around pretty good. I want to be able to work out with the guys … I'm very optimistic about that. I have faith about it. I look forward to it. The way I'm moving right now, I'm right on target," Washington said. 2 days
.Bears say Hester doesn't need 60 plays (Rotoworld) Bears wide receivers coach Darryl Drake said that Devin Hester "doesn't need 60 plays." Analysis: Drake was talking about the progress of Devin Aromashodu and how he can fit into the offense. Still, it's hard to see Aromashodu cutting into Hester's playing time. Hester has been the team's most reliable receiver and appears fresh. Hester remains a decent WR2 against the Eagles' banged up secondary Sunday night. 2 days
.Bowe suspended four games (FFChamps) Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. The announcement was made today via email from the league and the suspension will begin immediately. Analysis: You can stick a fork in the fantasy values of Bowe and Matt Cassel. Bowe will not be cleared to play again until Week 15, by which time most teams will be out of the fantasy playoffs. Give a slight bump up in the values of Chris Chambers<... (More)4 days
.Matt Cassel (RotoWire) Cassel's top wideout Dwayne Bowe was suspended four games on Tuesday for violating the NFL performance enhancing drug policy, the KC Star reports. Analysis: Chris Chambers, Mark Bradley and Lance Long will likely see the extra targets in Bowe's absence, but Cassel gets a slight downgrade without his most productive wideout available over the next four weeks.4 days
.Orton's status unclear (FFChamps) Denver Broncos' head coach Josh McDaniels is still not certain of starting quarterback Kyle Orton's status for Week 11. Orton was injured just before halftime in the team's 27-17 loss to the Washington Redskins on Sunday. After throwing for nearly 200 yards and a pair of scores in the first half, Orton sprained an ankle and did not return. His replacement, Chris Simms, finished 3-of-13, for 13 yards, and amassed a quarterback rating of 7.5 for the day. Analysis: Despite the Broncos recent three-game slide, they are still in the thick of th... (More)5 days
.John Carlson (RotoWire) Carlson found the endzone Sunday for the first time since Week 1, but his 31-yard TD reception was his only catch. Analysis: After being targeted 16 times the previous two weeks, Carlson inexplicably saw only two passes Sunday even though the Seahawks passed 53 times. The touchdown grab, though, shows Carlson's potential, and with Seattle's offensive line returning to health, perhaps Carlson will be used more as a receiver than as a blocker.5 days
.MJD first to top 100 on Rex Ryan since 2... (Rotoworld) With 123 yards Sunday, Maurice Jones-Drew became the first running back to top 100 rushing yards against a Rex Ryan defense since Larry Johnson accomplished the feat in 2006. Analysis: Much of that can be attributed to the loss of NT Kris Jenkins (ACL), but Jones-Drew is enjoying an excellent season. He leads the league with 12 touchdowns while averaging 120 yards per game and 5.1 yards per carry in his first stint as the Jags' every-down back.5 days
.Big Ben harassed by Bengals pass defense (Rotoworld) Ben Roethlisberger had three passes batted down at the line of scrimmage, three more dropped by receivers, and 10 passes defended by the Bengals' secondary. Analysis: Roethlisberger was also sacked four times and constantly harassed. "From the get-go, we just weren't on," Roethlisberger said. Credit the Bengals pass defense, which according to Steelers LT Max Stars used a "stand-up, roving defensive end, along with stunting, twisting blitzes from linebackers and the free safety." Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer has been a mastermind this season. 5 days
.Clark catches four passes in Week 10 win (Rotoworld) Dallas Clark caught four passes for 65 yards in Week 10. Analysis: The Patriots made it a point to stop Clark and were largely successful. Of course, keying in on a tight end will clear space for other receivers and that's how the Colts staged their incredible comeback. Clark remains an exceptional TE1 heading into Week 11 against the Ravens.6 days
.Jones-Drew scores Week 10 (TheHuddle) The Associated Press reports Jacksonville Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew had 24 carries for 123 yards with a touchdown Week 10. He also caught two passes for 22 receiving yards. He almost scored another touchdown, but instead took a knee at the 1-yard line with just over a minute left in the game against the New York Jets. QB David Garrard took a knee on the next two plays, and PK Josh Scobee hit the game-winning 21-yard field goal as time expired. Jones-Drew became the first player to rush for 100 or more yards against the Jets this season. Analysis: Ouch! Jones-Drew took a knee on the 1-yard l... (More)6 days
.Jones-Drew apologizes to fantasy owners (Rotoworld) Maurice Jones-Drew apologized to his fantasy football owners for kneeling down at the one-yard line at the end of Sunday's win. Analysis: "To my fantasy owners, I apologize," Jones-Drew said. "I have myself today, so it was a tough call. But whatever it takes for a victory, that's all that counts." The kneel-down essentially clinched the win for Jacksonville, much like MoJo's 630 total yards and seven TDs in the past four games have likely clinched victories for his fantasy owners over the last month.6 days
.Carlson hauls in 31-yard score in Week 1... (Rotoworld) John Carlson caught one pass for a 31-yard touchdown against the Cardinals in Week 10. Analysis: With Deion Branch healthy and rookie Deon Butler playing more in four-wide sets, Carlson was almost an afterthought. He was targeted just one other time after the early score. With just two games over 50 yards this season, Carlson can't be considered a weekly starter.6 days
.Cassel has ugly game in win over Raiders (Rotoworld) Matt Cassel completed 19-of-34 passes for 216 yards and one interception in the Chiefs' 16-10 victory over the Raiders. Analysis: Cassel didn't play particularly well, as the Chiefs' offense was carried by Jamaal Charles. Cassel looked to be staring his receivers down early in the game, as he came close to another interception or two. Don't play Cassel next week against the Steelers.6 days
.Maurice Jones-Drew (RotoWire) Jones-Drew (knee) rushed for 123 yards and scored a touchdown in Sunday's 24-22 win over the Jets. Jones-Drew added two receptions for 22 yards. Analysis: Jones-Drew produced like he always does, but he could have had a monster game. He fumbled inside the five-yard line in the third quarter and then went down intentionally at the one-yard line, a la Brian Westbrook, in the final two minutes to kill the rest of the clock and set up the game-winning field goal with no time left. If Jones-Drew had scored, as he easily could have, the Jets would have had over 90 seconds to try and tie or win the game with a touchdown. Instead, he made the smart play and went down t... 21.Eddie Royal (RotoWire) Royal had two catches for 21 yards on Sunday against Washington. Analysis: Another disappointing performance from Royal, who hasn't found the end zone this season after scoring five last year during his rookie campaign.6 days
.Vikings | Peterson scores twice Week 10 (KFFL) The Associated Press reports Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries in Week 10. 6 days
.Heath Miller (RotoWire) Miller caught four passes for 26 yards against the Bengals. Analysis: The Pittsburgh offense just seemed out of sync Sunday as the Bengals kept pressuring the line of scrimmage and pocket to get Ben Roethlisberger off his game. The plan worked as the Steelers were held without a touchdown for the first time this season.6 days
.Jaguars | Jones-Drew scores Week 10 (KFFL) The Associated Press reports Jacksonville Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew had 24 carries for 123 yards with a touchdown Week 10. 6 days
.Steelers | Roethlisberger struggles Week 10 (KFFL) The Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was 20-for-40 for 174 yards with an interception Week 10 against the Cincinnati Bengals. 6 days
.Peterson runs over Vikings, but fumbles ... (Rotoworld) Adrian Peterson rushed 18 times for 133 yards with two touchdowns and caught two passes for 10 yards in Sunday's win over the Lions. Analysis: Peterson could have had an absolutely huge game if he didn't fumble twice, including once when he could have scored. It really wasn't fair for the Lions as Peterson broke tackle after tackle and also outran their entire team. He gets a neutral matchup with the Seahawks next week.6 days
.Ben Roethlisberger (RotoWire) Roethlisberger threw for just 174 yards with zero touchdowns and one interception against the Bengals. Analysis: Cincinatti did a tremendous job in keeping pressure on Roethlisberger all game and keeping the Pittsburgh offense out of rhythm. He was sacked four times and had three passes batted down at the line of scrimmage. It was his worst performance this season, but he should hopefully have a nice bounce-back game in Week 11 against the Chiefs.6 days
.MJD scores once, passes up second TD lat... (Rotoworld) Maurice Jones-Drew rushed 23 times for 123 yards and one touchdown in Week 10 against the Jets, passing up a second score in the fourth quarter to burn clock before a last-second field goal attempt. Analysis: Much like Brian Westbrook two years ago Jones-Drew slid to a stop at the one-yard line rather than go in for a touchdown that would have left the Jets with time for a comeback. The big difference is that the Jaguars still trailed by one point at the time, leaving it up to Josh Scobee to nail a chip-shot for the win. His fantasy owners don't have a whole lot of room to complain, because MJD now has 630 total ... (More)6 days
.Miller held in check by Bengals (Rotoworld) Heath Miller had four catches for 26 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bengals. Analysis: Miller now has just 44 total yards in his last two games, but that's not where his value is anyway. Miller was unable to get open in the red zone Sunday, something that should change against the Chiefs next week.6 days
.Royal has two catches for 21 yards (Rotoworld) Eddie Royal had two catches for 21 yards in Week 10. Analysis: He also averaged 23 yards on three kick returns and gained zero on his lone caught punt. This effort came on the heels of what appeared to be a promising 74-yard effort in Week 9. Royal is too inconsistent for fantasy use.6 days
.Roethlisberger has bad day against Benga... (Rotoworld) Ben Roethlisberger completed 20-of-40 passes for 174 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's loss to the Bengals. Analysis: The Steelers used a pass-heavy attack but ran into a Bengals' secondary that is quickly becoming among the best in the league. Big Ben took plenty of shots down the field but couldn't get anyone open. Look for him to bounce back in a big way against the Chiefs next week.6 days
.Jaguars inactives for Week 10 (FFChamps) The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced the following players as inactive for today's game against the New York Jets: WR Tiquan Underwood, SAF Courtney Greene, SS Gerald Alexander, DT Derek Landri, DE Greg Peterson, G Maurice Williams, TE Ernest Wilford, and LB Adam Seward. Analysis: There are no major surprises on the Jaguars inactives list. Maurice Jones-Drew showed up on the injury report earlier in the week with a knee injury but was listed probable and was not hampered by it in practice. He is active and is safe to start against the J... (More)6 days
