I really don't care for the explanation as to why this trade was made, I just see it as extremely lopsided and am officially asking the Commissioner to veto it. If Tribute wants to drop James Davis, then let everyone have a shot at him,...don't decide on your own who's gonna benefit from a very coveted RB.

My Tribute Date Fri Sep 4 2:53:03 a.m. ET 2009
since you mentioned "coveted running back"...i had to go check see what i am missing... in current ongoing WCOFF-1 draft, James Davis taken at 12.6 as the FIFTY SECOND RB drafted (this is 10 starters with FLEX to go 3rd RB if desired instead of 4th wr or 2nd te.)
GURU ranks Davis as 57th RB and KFFL ranks Davis as the 59th rb.  (yes we all know how these sites can certainly miss the mark on a player considering the once-rather lofty rankings given to one-year wonders like Anthony Thomas, Caddy Williams, Kevin Jones, as well as those ranked to low that did emerge later on like a 'priest holmes' who was a stud for several years... just like the NFL true 'experts' of talent misses quite a few as well, Ron Dayne immediately leaps to mind along with quite a few others, more recently the TatumBells, Chris Perrys and others taken high in nfl draft & subsequent fantasy drafts that were total busts just like miss the MB-3s taken in nfl-3rd/4th round and undrafted in fantasy drafts THEN becoming a 1st rounder in most new drafts last year and 2nd rounder in new drafts this year at best !!! ... POINT IS, nobody including us have any idea whether or not Davis will be another career backup in nfl and waiver fodder in fantasy leagues OR if he will 'stud-up' should Jamal go down this year...

BUT it seems like your position is basically that since i had the foresight to spend a 5.7 draft pick on Davis AND have had the foresight (luck if you will) to draft and/or acquire a stable of RBs-WRs including A.D., M.Turner, LT2, Mendenhall, J.Stewart, L.McCoy,  and WRs of Reggie Wayne, Bolden, EddieRoyal, Braylon Edwards, and newcomers Kenny Britt, Josh Morgan (ranked 40th in guru) and Inglesias (likely to be cut) along with only 1 TE Carlson (cant cut since 1) and QBs of Palmer-Schaub not to mention Stafford ... loaded team, at least loaded IMHO, ... that i should get ZERO benefit of being able to attempt to upgrade my own team at TmDT position from TBB to Chi DT (upgrade my opinion with loss of DC Kiffen and other issues in TB this year)... BUT that i should get ZERO benefit of my draft-acquisition and roster IN ORDER that whoever should have the 1st waiver priority AFTER week 1 with a loss and low-points scored in week 1 loss at that... that 1st waiver priority should get Davis for nothing and i should get ZERO benefit of having drafted him...

while i do think Davis definitely has good "upside" should Yamauler go down this year, personally i wouldn't quite elevate him to "coveted running back" status at this point.  a good 'cuff' for a Jamal-owner, absolutely... a good bench depth upside player for a team with roster-space to spare instead of carrying a 'fargas' or a 'lamont jordan' no-upside has-been ?  ABSOLUTELY...

BUT  " COVETED "  nahhhhh
that is simply letting your own player evaluation and/or hopes of landing davis yourself on waiver priority infringe upon another owner's right to manage and trade as he believes benefits his team (in this case, my own player evaluation that i personally 'covet' A.D. Turner, LT2, Mendy, J.Stewart, McCoy, more than i do davis and even to point as i put in my trade offer to upgrade my DT, lets me use my own player evaluation to likely keep a "josh morgan" upside wr, who happens to be ranked 40th range on guru)

AND please keep in mind, in this league, we only keep ANY 11 players next year.  Barring a ton of injuries to my existing players OR career-ending injury to jamal with Davis stepping in stud-ing it up, i don't see Davis as being among 11 i would keep nor would i likely start this year AND we play, i play,  to win THIS YEAR which is reason to do a 2-fer-1 type of trade like i did to upgrade at another starter position.

my two cents...which as those that know me, know i do believe my two cents worth is really worth a shiny new nickle while some will certainly say that my two cents aint worth a penny in this current economic time ;-)

Blah, blah, blah. If Brandon Jacobs would go down and I just "gave away" Bradshaw, this whole league would be "up in arms" and the commish would have to veto it or I would expect him to. Jamaal is in danger of not even making the team. Davis is the starting RB,...even if he stays. Who gives away a starting RB with an awesome "O" line? He needs to be dropped, not given away to the person of your choosing. I've got Mendenhall in a lot of leagues and am constantly being offered trades for him because Parker might not start the season, even though Parker still is the "starter." Davis is in a better position and actually has shown more in the preseason than Mendy. Again, If I just gave away Mendy, I'd be the "laughing-stock" of the league. I really don't see any difference. I invite the rest of the league to "weigh in" and help me see the error of my ways if I'm in the wrong here.

UNREAL... so you are saying that DAVIS  IS the starting RB for the browns and that Jamal might not even make the team ???

WOW, you need cash in & let ESPN, FoxSports, cbssportsline and all the fantasy news sites like rotoworld, guru and others in on YOUR inside sources !!!  WOW... i AM impressed now.  i have literally read nowhere that DAVIS IS the starting RB and Lewis IS in danger of not even making the team.  matter of fact, re-checked and Dumb ol' GURU as of yesterday still reporting this...
Cleveland Browns - Rookie RB James Davis is pushing fourth-year RB Jerome Harrison for the #2 role. That role is still undecided, but don't be surprised if he wins and becomes starting RB Jamal Lewis' handcuff and pushes Lewis for playing time. UPDATED: 9/3

if you trade bradshaw right now, noone prob. care cuz Jacobs hasn't gone down, or has he ? you got the inside track on joizey1 camp too ?
you do need cash in on your 'sources and/or insights' ... we MERE mortal fantasy owners apparently are not worthy of such presence among us :lol::lol:

btw... would also invite the other owners in league to do as you requested, WEIGH IN,  should the CUFF-Davis & TBB DT for Chi DT get overturned, then Ahmed can reverse the trade, put em both back on my roster, i leave shortly for Dallas & will return on sunday eve. late and i will cut someone then to get down to 24 (likely would have to be josh morgan now) & Davis would be staying put on my roster. at least for now. :lol::lol:

Rotoworld Reports of Lewis looking "slow, tentative, and decidedly unquick" have been prevalent in Browns newspapers over the last two weeks. NFL insider Mike Lombardi went so far as to suggest that Lewis could miss the final cut on Saturday. It'd be quite a mistake to admit after the Browns paid Lewis a $4 million roster bonus this offseason, but clearly the team will lean on Davis early. Already the passing-down specialist and "change of pace" to Lewis, Davis has a good shot to unseat Cleveland's incumbent by Week 4. If not sooner.,....

"over the last two weeks",...Duh,..where have you been?

I did read some where Lewis may not make the team. Will see.... But a RB for a Def. is never a good trade no matter what or who is on your team. I would say this trade needs to be voted on

Source: Mary Kay Cabot - the Cleveland Plain Dealer

Mary Kay Cabot, from the Cleveland Plain Dealer, asks Could Browns running back Jamal Lewis be cut Saturday when the Browns trim their roster to 53? League sources said rumblings began a couple of days ago that Lewis, who turned 30 last week, could be one of the dozen players the Browns let go, and espn.com's Adam Schefter Friday put Lewis at the top of his list of big-name players on the bubble. Nationalfootballpost.com's Mike Lombardi also speculated Lewis will be cut.

LOL - Quite a stable of names . . . but I wouldn't trade my back-to-back championships for the lot of them.

You never know about the future in the NFL or FF; you might just win it all by keeping Davis and giving the rook a shot.  Dunno . . . However, what we DO know is that even with LT2, AP, Turner, and Stewart . . . you couldn't get over the top  :-)
